Coming in suitably lean and mean, carrying not an ounce of fat, this three-piece have released a three-track EP which captures perfectly their refreshingly direct, feelgood approach.
Opening track Home Cooked Cookin' is my personal fave, all spiky guitars and equally spiky lyrics, music that discards the much over-used indie swagger for a more wild-eyed, hperactive skank.
And it's all so quintessentially English, like The Kinks would possibly have sounded in 2008, laced with a little Undertones.
But then on Fire When Ready, which boasts a killer bass line, and Blood Stains On My White Hands, there's also a pleasingly stateside bar-room boogie feel to proceedings, making for a heady cocktail.
Essentially this is the sound of a band who know what they want and what they're doing, having the time of their lives and imploring us to join them

Coventry TelegraphUp next were King Hermit, a punk rock band from Coventry. Their version of Bond's theme tune totally set the tone of the gig. The lead singer's throat scratching vocals worked excellently with the noticeably Beatles influenced guitar riffs that pounded every song.

Coventry CV6 (Telegraph)Coventry Rockers King Hermit are something to behold, I can testify to seeing them live recently and they are amazingly energetic live for a three piece. But does this energy transfer to the recorded medium? (Puts on best Jeremy Clarkson voice) Yes…yes it does!....

dieshellsuit.co.ukThis demo is laden with witty lyrics and some pretty solid indie rock riffs that remind me of a cross between Arctic Monkeys and a more rock n roll Be Your Own Pet. Most of the guitar riffs are really nice and they have a 70’s feel about them.
All in all this is a very decent demo and I imagine the EP which is imminent will be pretty good.© Daniel Quantrill
dieshellsuit.co.ukLast on was King Hermit, as I said this was their EP Launch Party and they kicked off with the 3rd song from that EP Blood Stains On My White Hands and proceeded to play a strong set of great songs. This band does not conform to the mainstream and for a 3 piece they produce a sound that many larger bands fail to achieve.
